How would I describe Ginger’s Cafe over this past weekend?

ashley-shower-diaper-cake.JPG      Super Busy & Blessed

On Saturday we had a baby shower for thirty two guests.  Tricia from West Bloomfield had a arranged a memorable occassion for her guests.  The party favors and centerpieces were lovely.  A “high tea”  service was provided.  The party-goers had a scrapbooking table, an abundance of games-fun.

Sunday brought twenty-seven guests for Julies baby girl shower.  The highlight was the most creative gifts we have ever seen to date.  “High Tea” was served with an interesting variation.  Instead of tea sandwiches our delicious brocolli quiche tarts were served with a champagne glass of fresh fruit and orange sherbet.

We also served our “Friendship Tea” to guests who reserved this experience.  Poems are provided upon arrival.  Ginger’s created an original blend of tea for this ocassion.  Scones and tea sandwiches followed and a chocolate fondue with fresh strawberries and marshmellows are provided for dipping.  An assortment of mini cupcakes and squares were the sweet treat offering.

Christmas Bridal Shower in August at Ginger’s Cafe

August 26th, 2011

ashley-shower-aug-2011.JPG    A charming group of ladies arrived at the Cafe Thursday morning to set the stage for a bridal shower for Ashley.  The party organizers were from out of state representing the soon to be bride and the groom is from this local area.  The dining room was dressed with Christmas centerpieces, holiday cocktail napkins and personalized ornaments for each guest.

Laughter and joy filled the aisle.  The menu was tomato basil soup followed by chicken salad croissants with our homemade carrot salad.  The surprise dessert was Christmas petite fours, one chocolate and one vanilla filled with strawberry cream.

Ginger’s Cafe Sweet Revelation Test

March 11th, 2011

To discover more about your inner sweetness answer the following question.

You have enjoyed a delicious lunch at Ginger’s Café and your server presents the dessert menu.  The choice you make will reveal interesting observations about your personality.

What dessert will you order?

 1. Chocolate Layer Cake with Chocolate Butter cream Frosting

2. Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting

3. Peppermint Ice Cream Pie with Mint and Chocolate Drizzle

4. Peanut Butter Pie with Chocolate Crust and Syrup

5. Chocolate Chip Cheesecake

6. Ginger Peach Torte

7. Grilled Lemon Cake with French Vanilla Ice Cream with Caramel

Think carefully before you make your choice.  Once made, do not change your mind.  Read on to see what our research reveals about you.

1. Chocolate Layer Cake with Chocolate Butter cream Frosting:  Loyalty and consistency are outstanding qualities of your personality.  Others can count on you and more importantly you can count on yourself.  You are also good at following through and you can achieve great feats with these qualities.

2. Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting:  Life for you tends to ride on edge on the wild side.  Some would say a little bit nutty.  You are humorous, fun and people love to be around you.  People would describe you as joy to the world.

3. Peppermint Ice Cream Pie with Mint and Chocolate Drizzle:  Everyday is a holiday for you.  You understand that each day is a gift and practice being present to all experiences.  You celebrate frequently with your friends and family and you are truly grateful.

4. Peanut Butter Pie with Chocolate Crust and Syrup:  You are earthy and grounded.  Conscious of the environment, you recycle and conserve resources.  You like to shop at Whole Foods and buy organic.  Yoga is ideally suited for you and your body is a temple.

5. Chocolate Chip Cheesecake:  Sophistication marks your style.  Smooth and comfortable in any situation.  Moving through your day with grace and ease, you are admired by many.  When in relationship your partner is always proud to be with you.

6. Ginger Peach Torte:  You are trendy, hip and fashionable.  Very creative and adventurous.  You are willing to take calculated risk and life blesses you with happy outcomes.

7. Grilled Lemon Cake with French Vanilla Ice Cream and Caramel:  Luscious and decadent.  You want it all and life would not dare to disappoint you.  There is no shoe or handbag out of your reach.  Accessories are important to you.  You always choose perfect colors and co-ordinate looks.

Sometimes people order desserts that are not on the menu.  We are always happy to accommodate their request.  For these unique folks research shows that they reside “outside-the-box” and are happy to do so.  They are the imaginative ones who break patterns and reach higher.  By example, they also give others permission to break the mold and be original and creative.

Soulful Cooking

March 6th, 2011

Add a Soulful creative flair to the ordinary     My ‘ordinary” topic refers to potato pancakes this month.  By ordinary I mean basic..

Basic Potato Pancakes                                                                                                                                                                                        4 coarsely shred potatoes                                                                                                                                                                                       1 coarsely shred carrot                                                                                                                                                                                        1/2 small onion chopped find                                                                                                                                                                                  1 egg, may use 2 egg whites instead                                                                                                                                                                     2 tbsp flour, white or wheat                                                                                                                                                                                    A pinch garlic salt w/parsley (regular salt is fine)                                                                                                                                              A pinch of pepper

(My grandmother would tell me to add a “pinch of this and that.  At the time I wondered what exact quantity she meant.  Soulful cooking gives you permission to feel and sense - so a pinch is a sprinkle  that you feel is right.)

you may add chopped fresh or dried parsley or chives if you desire

Mix together.

Drop of 1 tablespoon of mixture into olive oil over medium-high heat.  Fry and turn when one side is browned.

Be prepared for basic goodness!

*If you want to embrace your Soulful self more deeply, add small quantities of other ingredients you like.  For example:  chopped bacon, ham, sausage, peppers, etc.  Melt your favorite cheese with dill on top.  Give      yourself permission to “play outside the box” in your kitchen.     To celebrate St Patrick’s Day at the café, I am making the “Luck of the Irish” potato pancakes with corned beef and sauerkraut served with homemade applesauce.  A treat “To Live For”.

Enjoy the and Soul of cooking.  Your kitchen or mine.
